Chapter 1 - A Strange Mirror

Mr Bettini was a man of a rugged countenance that was never lighted by a smile. He was silent, keen on gambling, dreary and lean. He was a science teacher, he also love to drink wine when he was alone. He was modesty and generous. He once gave 10 pounds to the beggar on the street, and that was the teacher's way. He didn't have many friends, maybe because he is too silent.

One day, while Mr Bettini and his one best old friend - Mr Panatic, which was a bank manager, were walking through the street, they found a hidden trail in a busy quarter of London. The trail was narrow and quiet. The teacher was interested in it. And they got into the trails and walk along the trail to the end. At the end of the trail stood a big house. The bank manager was very puzzled, whispered "I can't believe that there was a big house on this narrow and no-people trail! That makes me feel abrupt!". "I think so." nodded the teacher, looking around the appearance of the house, "look! There is a doorplate! And 'Mr Neil' is written on it." said Mr Bettini, with a slight change of voice, pointing the doorplate. Mr Panatic pressed the doorbell and shouted "Hello, anybody is inside the house?" However, there was no answer inside the house. The bank manager shouted once again and louder, but still, no one replied to him. The sky was dark and crows were circling at the sky. Mr Panatic pushed the door gently and then it moved inside a half. When Mr Panatic was going to push the door again, suddenly the door opened at an alarming speed and sounded 'ping'. A spooky laughter came out from the depth of the house. Mr Bettini and Mr Panatic stepped back and shaking. A mirror was standing behind the door.

"Oh my god..." Mr Bettini tried to keep calm and stepped forward, and stood in front of the mirror. The teacher screamed and took a few steps back, pointed the mirror with his shaking hand. Mr Panatic stepped behind the teacher immediately, screamed together—There are two different faces of Mr Bettini and Mr Panatic in the mirror! These two faces gave them a strong feeling of deformity, ugly and cold-blood. The appearances were extremely strange and evil. The teacher and the bank manager escaped from the trail hurriedly and returned to the busy urban.

"How horrible is it!" Mr Panatic was gasping and yelling.

"Well, it is very scary...and a nightmare. But it cannot be explained in a scientific way..." The teacher pointed the trail and said very slowly and calmly.

"Let us make a bargain never to refer to this again." Mr Panatic said wearily.

"I agree." replied Mr Bettini, "that's too terrible." and two old friends said goodbye to each other and back home.
